We have been involved in fundraising activities which include dinner dances, barbecues etc. We are humbled to have
the opportunity to make a difference to the struggling populations of East Africa, however little in addition to teaching
our children abroad the rich culture which includes dances, foods, stories and our language of East Africa, kiswahili.
Recent Events
On May 2006, the East African Community Organization in the Capital District
held its first Annual Dinner at the Schuyler Inn in Menands, NY.
Guest Speaker Hon. Dr Marie Rarieya expressed her
wish for the organization to rise to the organization strong and meet the challenges thrown at it.
On
August 2006, three months after its inauguration, the East African Community Organization in the capital district held its
first annual picnic at the Corning Preserve in downtown Albany by the riverfront.
We were honored to have guests from
Boston, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Poughkeepsie grace our picnic and learn more about the organization.
It was a
time for nyama choma, beer, soda, and all kinds of other foods.
During the East African Independence Day celebrations
on November 25th 2006, the Hon Ambassodor Muburi-Muita gave us a rousing speech.

African Community was outstanding and the dances would teach Shakira a few lessons!!
